All hell broke out in the New Zealand press immediately following John Campbell's interview of Ken Ring. The next evening John Campbell made a full apology. Well done John.

What the normally urbane, uber-empathetic Campbell may have revealed is that he really believes he is the correct arbiter of what we should think. Campbell is one of our most accomplished, hard working and – for what it’s worth – genuinely good-hearted television journalists, which makes this lapse the more upsetting. And who knew there was a slavering Paul Henry in that gentle, be-suited body trying to get out.
